Fast Boy Fenders

Jan 17, 2008

Happy new year!

Go check out the page holder for the all new Fast Boy Cycles site! The mailing lists are going to be merged. If you've already signed up for the fender mailing list, there's no need to sign up again.

Thank you all for your support.

I AM taking frame orders.

Nov 28, 2007

It's been a very busy fall. Fast Boy Fenders is slowly but surely becoming Fast Boy Cycles. Most of my energy (and time and money) over the last months has been spent getting set up to build frames. As many of you know, I have quit my job teaching dance, and am making a go of it as a fabricator of all things bike related.

I am still filling fender orders, and will be selling bars very soon. I really haven't spent much time updating the site, but everything you see is available with a short wait.

Christmas is coming.. really fast. Those of you who intend to give Fast Boy Wood for Christmas should get your orders in SOON. With manufacture, drying and shipping time, the safe cut off for orders is the end of the first week of December (let's say Sunday the 9th).

Watch out for RACKS!

New product, coming soon. You may want to get on the waiting list.

Nova Scotia was amazing. I've been back for two weeks, setting up the shop for the addition of some welding equipment...

I'll be headed down to Austin TX in a week to get an education from frame builder, Whitney Moyer. I'll be back and filling fender orders again at the beginning of Nov.

I'm happy to announce the end of my career as a dance teacher. Yesterday was my very last day. We had a little party at my house after my last class. A bunch of us were on bikes. A great way to end a career.. group ride back to my house for drunken revelry. It felt very right to ride away from the studio with a gang of folks ALL on fast boy bikes. Please stay tuned for new developments during the fall.

I'll be on vacation in Nova Scotia for the next three weeks. Feel free to be in touch anyway.. I WILL have email, and can answer any questions there are about fenders. Please feel free to place orders, but know that they won't be filled until the end of September. When I get back, I'll fill them in the order they came in.

A sad day at FBF. As it turns out, stubbies are NOT tough enough for Bucky. I was sure that she had walked it down some stairs on its back wheel, caught an edge, and snapped it off with the leverage, but no! Spontaneous combustion! It looks as though I miscalculated the acceptable radius of the bend.

I am redesigning the hardware and devising a method to test it. Please, if you have a broken Stubby, get in touch and we will make it right.

On the brighter side, I have quit my job teaching dance, effective Aug 31st. This was a long time coming (I apologize to those of you who liked the photos). I will be devoting my time instead to all things bike related. So maybe, just maybe.. I'll be able to keep some fenders in stock!

Apparently good for serving sushi.

This shot from my good friend Yohei in Japan, sporting a set of Yohei (duh) Pinstripes.

Remember to send me pictures of your fenders when you get a chance. I'd love to put them up.

I'd like to thank you all for a successful launch. I'm having a blast.

It occurred to me recently that there weren't any pictures on the site of stubbies in action (and really not too many of them available.. ) These things are designed to fill up that unused rear brake hole on your single speed. I've been making a push on them lately, and over the next few days will have a bunch available for sale.

The bracket itself is tapped for a 6mm stainless bolt (included). Also included is a stainless/nylon lock nut to hold everything in place. They're tough enough for bucky..

By the end of the weekend I'll have more mudflaps, light and dark nascars, and some dark arrows.

I've got some race-blade style fenders back in stock as well.

Thank you for visiting. Over the next little while, we'll be working out the kinks, and greatly appreciate your input.

This initial offering of fenders is almost exclusively an E-Z on race-blade style fender. Not tons of coverage, for sure, but very easy to install and adjust.. AND you don't need fender eyelets, or brake mounts (yes!! they work on track frames!). They're made for 700c wheels. Wider 26" wheel fenders may come in the future.

A little later in the summer I will be adding full coverage fenders like the ones on my green bean, and on Hill's gimp bike. These will come with Honjo hardware (beautiful!!) and be a bit more of a chore to install.

Please check in often, send us your feedback, and ride safely.

My best,
